African Greys are often referred to as the "thinking man's" bird. Both the Congo and the smaller Timneh are one of the best talkers and have demonstrated that they actually understand what they are saying. Greys are known for their uncanny ability to mimic perfectly everything from the dog to the doorbell or the exact sound of the owners voice. Greys are very intelligent and sensitive birds and even have the ability to show empathy.. Need variety and intellectual stimulation to challenge them, such as puzzle toys, foraging toys, and interactive toys. Greys can be timid and nervous around new things. Many young greys like to dig in the corner of their cage and kick, which is attributed to "House Cleaning" instincts carried over from the wild. Most pet Greys are of the Congo variety, which are larger and more vividly colored than the Timneh. There is very little difference in personality between the two varieties. Greys are prone to vitamin A deficiency, so must be fed foods such as broccoli and sweet potato. Origin: Africa Size: Congos are 13 in in length, Timnehs are about 9 in. Avg Life Expectancy: Up to 50 years

AMAZON PARROTS
Clever, colorfull, talkative and often bratty. These birds can talk and when they sing, they can sing everything from Old MacDonald to Opera. These birds crave attention, love to perform, and are great at putting on a show for an audience! Amazons are to the point and not very subtle. The Yellow Naped, Double Yellow Head and Yellow Crowns are generally great talkers, but sometimes develop an in-your-face attitude. The Amazons have a reputation for being great communicators when it comes to reading their body language. The display of feathers and eyes often show when they are excited or aggressive. They can be territorial around their cage and can become overstimulated and unpredictable easily, particularly during breeding season. They love to eat, and may make special sounds when they are really delighted with a favorite food. Since they are from the rain forest, they love getting wet! The rest of the varieties are usually easier to handle and quieter. Origin: Mexico, Caribbean Islands, Central and South America. Size: 10 to 15 in. Avg Life Expectancy: 50 yrs
