IMPORTANT FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY
A hand-raised bird has the best pet potential due to having social contact with humans. Hand-fed is not necessarily the same thing as hand-raised, although it creates the opportunity. A well socialized bird has been handled regularly and gently.
It is important when purchasing a pet parrot that you look beyond the flash and feathers and select a bird with the level of care, interaction, and noise that you can live with.. (Many birds, such as the Cockatoos and Macaws, have smaller members which are just as much fun in a smaller package!)
Buying from a reputable source is also important. This is not the time to bargain hunt. Raising healthy, good quality pets is time consuming and expensive. Cutting corners in the nurturing process, or mass production with little socialization effort, will reduce your birds pet potential. (This is the equivalent of a "puppy mill") Use common sense - price is a consideration, but should not be your primary concern.
Every bird is an individual with its own personality. We have included descriptions, along with links, under each type of bird listed for sale below. This being as it may, we believe that every bird owner should know what they are buying...so read up! Feel free to ask our opinion as well. Think about what characteristics matter most and least to you (ie talking, snuggling, noise level, size, interaction) and let us help guide your decision.
